Import Duties and Taxes for U.S. Orders

All U.S. orders are now subject to import duties and taxes. Please read this before purchasing.

At Toru & Naoko, we want your shopping experience to be smooth and transparent. Due to recent changes in U.S. regulations, all international shipments — regardless of value — are now subject to duties and taxes when entering the United States. This applies to every brand and every shipment.

Why this change?

The U.S. government has removed the previous “de minimis” exemption (which allowed orders under USD 800 to enter duty-free). As a result, all imported products — including lingerie and fashion items — are now taxed at entry.

How this affects your order

  • Duties are calculated by U.S. Customs based on the type of product and country of origin.

  • For lingerie, the rate is typically 15–17% of the product value.

  • Important: If you choose a courier like DHL or FedEx (instead of USPS), they may also charge an extra clearance/handling fee on top of the duty.

Your options

  • DDP Shipping via FedEx (Delivered Duty Paid) → Duties and handling fees are prepaid at checkout. Your order arrives with no extra fees.

  • Other shipping methods → You may be billed duties/taxes separately by U.S. Customs or the courier before delivery.
